Watch in HD www.solartechtown.com I, Robert Smith, show you every step I take to building a custom made solar panel from scratch. I explain in detail about each item I use and why to use it, so the video is fairly long. I will be hosting the majority of the video on my own server so you can view it all in one take. It will take time to edit the video, but the more of you that subscribe to the video, the faster I'll try to get it out to you guys as it just shows that people are interested and appreciate what I'm doing, as I'm providing this video for free unlike some videos you see on YouTube. The method I described in this video is just one way to go about it, however, there are many ways you can build a custom solar panel. Some use aluminum or plastic frames, but I found for a beginner, working with wood would probably be easier and cheaper. Overall, building a solar panel can be fun, but there are many factors that play into building a solar panel, and I as well still have an extreme amount to still learn about it. So I hope that for those wanting to learn more about solar energy and wanting to take the adventure of building their own solar panel will find this video very useful. To watch to full video just video, just visit www.solartechtown.com Again the video is fairly large, so to prevent from having to put 6 or 7 parts on youtube in 10 minute sections, I'm just going to host in on my server. If you all have ANY questions, feel free to leave a comment under the ...

This is good idea to install it on the shack, that is what I am planning to do too.
Id consider sticking a shingle piece underneath the shingle above the L Bracket and lap it over the bracket part on the roof just so water has a run off over the bracket rather then a place to pool and later run down the screw holes.
Those shingles will expand and contract between winter and summer and maybe open up the screw holes just enough to be annoying.
This video does not say how to build a solar panel. It says how to install one that is already built!
If you did not notice, there are “Parts” to the whole video. So obviously at part 12 you would be looking close to the end of the video which involves mounting it to the roof. Try starting at “Part 1″ if you want to see the process of making the solar panel itself.
Nice job Robert! This is a great set of videos, thanks for sharing.
marls10191 … knock knock anybody home?
Robert, really cool. How is the plexiglass cover working out? Any more condensation? I decided to use glass on mine. Check my videos out.
Nice job Robert. your are very detailed and thank you for all that you have done to show us.
Great vid man, I am thinking about mounting my panels to the roof one day. One of my favorite parts of the video was the bird aka jet fighter taking off at 4:08……It was like “Swoosh I’m outta here” LOL
I was going to give you from one to ten a ten but after watch all the videos I give a

Looks like its melting lol Great video (full comment will be in final video)
You should really replace that 22 gauge wire with something heavier- you will be losing two volts in that!
Too much wood, those 4×4’s are not really needed, but great video!
